Counselling for healthy habits is useful for normal weight pts as well as overweight or obese

• engaging in physical activity >12 times a month,
• being a nonsmoker,
• consuming >5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day, and
• drinking alcohol in moderation (1-14 units a week)

so basically everyone you see needs to be screened for healthy habits (+ blood glucose) every time you see them, and given ‘the talk’ (aka ‘being fat is life-and-death, come talk to me when you’re ready to take control and change things).

perhaps a screening tool for readiness to change is ‘would you eat drink a glass of urine for $50’ – are you ready to do unpleasant things for incremental benefits 😉
